after one year off LHRH (Zoladex) my PSA in May climbed to 1.85 and thereafter to 8.93 in August and then to 12.59. This is a rapid increase and my oncologist advised another course of Zoladex. Next PSA reading in late January.

Diagnosed in December 2008 based on PSA count of 47 with probable PC.

Resisted immediate action. Saw three urologists, each proposed their preferred specialist line of treatment. Brachytherapy, radical prostatectomy or hormone therapy. I finally agreed to a biopsy in July 2009. I was diagnosed after a saturation 17 needle biopsy as Stage T2c, Gleason 4+3. 5 of the 17 cores were positive, one non specific. PSA at biopsy was 53.4. Oddly my next PSA came in lower at 41 two weeks after the biopsy.

Bone scans in June 2009, April 2010 and November 2010 were all clear. A CT scan in May 2010 showed all clear. An MRI on 31st May 2010 suspected a possible small capsular breach. It reported further no invasion of the levator sling, no peri-prostatic or pelvic lymphadenopathy and no pelvic skeletal metastasis.

My PSA had risen to 82 by February 21, 2011. I met with an oncologist and decided on a course of Zoladex. I chose monthly for the first three implants to see if I was tolerant of the medication. Thereafter moved to 3 monthly implants.

My PSA dropped to 1.47 @ 15th July 2011. It dropped to 1.25 @ 28th October. I decided after 9 months of therapy to take a break as the PSA seemed to be stable around that mark. My next reading will be in early February 2012.
